Negative impressions in the minds of children. When children are young, they have a strong desire to know, experience, and learn about everything around them. They will pick up lessons from the adults around them; they will also learn from books, magazines, television shows, friends, and other adults. They will be easily drawn to anything, including potentially harmful substances. As parents, it is our responsibility to keep track of what our children are doing, learning, and showing interest in.
In this digital age, young people are overexposed to rage, hatred, violence, lust, and other negative emotions in the comics, magazines, television, internet, and social media they consume. Parents must monitor their children’s behavior and activities to ensure that they do not watch, learn, read, speak, or have negative and unnecessary thoughts in order to avoid damaging mental records that could affect their future.
As parents, it is our responsibility to ensure that nothing harmful is within easy reach of our children. They should be prohibited from watching inappropriate television programs, movies, cartoons, or reading inappropriate things. Even if a viewer is not aware of it, his or her mind will absorb everything implied in it.
The mind will keep a record of whatever his five senses—eye, ear, nose, tongue, and skin—perceive. The records that the mind and thoughts already have will determine how they react and respond in every situation in the future.
